The Mermaid Chair, Sue Monk Kidd
I enjoyed The Secret Life of Bees. This was eh.
The Office (US)
Specifically, the last five minutes of the season finale. Over... and over... and over again. *SWOON*
The Happy Bullets
Oh-so-good. Since I got this album, I have, without fail, awakened to "Good Day!" already residing in my head. Good stuff, that.
The Comics Curmudgeon
The comics are, by definition, supposed to be funny. But sometimes they're not. And when they fall short, Josh is there to snarkily (yes, it's a word) make fun of their shortcomings. Which is funny. And thus, brings it around full circle to make things right with the world.

"Like Lincoln!" Redux
Okay, I know this is gauche and uncool and all that, but I'm rerunning a post that I put up a year ago today. The reason I'm putting it up again is that last year I didn't have comments enabled and I really, really want to hear what people think about this.

Apologies for being a bad blogger. And now, from December 17, 2002:

Here's the argument (actually, "heated discussion" is more accurate) Paul and I get into every Christmas. When you sing "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" it is customary to add little quips or "answers" to the lyrics. You know what I'm talking about. "Like a light bulb," etc.

We agree on most of them (or at least accept each other's answers) until we get to the "You'll go down in history." My response is, "Like Lincoln!" His is, "Like me!" "But you haven't gone down in history," I say. "But I might," he says. "But you haven't," I say. "Well, it rhymes," he says. "It doesn't have to rhyme. 'Like a light bulb' doesn't rhyme. 'Ho ho ho' doesn't rhyme." "But it sounds better." "But it's just wrong." And on and on.

Granted, his answer is very optimistic and I should commend him for that I guess, but gosh darn it, he hasn't gone down in history and "Like me!" just doesn't make sense.

So... which is correct? Or are they both wrong?
